Zaina Erhaim

Syrian Journalist and Feminist Activist
Zaina Erhaim is an award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of experience in journalism, media, and strategic communications. She currently works as a communications, media, and gender consultant with several international organizations operating across the Middle East and North Africa.
Prior to this, she worked for eight years with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), first as Syria Project Coordinator and later as Communications Manager. Throughout her career, she has trained hundreds of journalists in Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Lebanon, and other countries in the region. She has also contributed chapters to five books on journalism and women.
She was named among the 100 Most Powerful Arab Women in 2016 by Arabian Business and listed among Reuters Thomson’s Unsung Heroes of 2016. Her work has received several international recognitions, including the Index on Censorship Freedom of Expression Award (2016), the Press Freedom Prize by Reporters Without Borders, and the Peter Mackler Award for Ethical and Courageous Journalism (2015).
