Jihan Alibi is a Tunisian researcher with a Master’s degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of Tunis (University of Tunis) in 2024. She is currently a Master’s student in Political Science and Democratic Governance at the Faculty of Legal, Political, and Social Sciences of Tunis (University of Carthage).

She received a research grant funded by the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) and the Institute for Contemporary Maghreb Research in 2023, as part of her work on her thesis topic, “Garbage Collectors in Tunisia,” locally known as “Barbacha.”

She has contributed to numerous locally-conducted scientific studies, serving as a research assistant or field research coordinator on issues related to environmental phenomena, the informal economy, and social movements.
