They Persist: Arab Youth Reinventing Politics

As part of its project “Arab Youth as Political Actors”, the Arab Reform Initiative will be screening "They Persist: Arab Youth Reinventing Politics", a 60-minute documentary based on interviews with youth in Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Tunisia.

These interviews tell the vision of social and political action of young activists and how their modes of engagement differ from previous models, the generational gap they perceive in their understanding of "politics" and in their action, how they build autonomy in action even in very restrictive contexts, and the sense of hope and positivity their participation generates in themselves.

The documentary is the story of how this youth re-imagines politics, and how their action represents a new way of "being together" that breaks with political norms and traditional social order.
