Dr. Pierre Saade joined Publish What You Pay in 2018 as Regional Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, and was promoted to Senior Regional Coordinator in 2020. He oversees the organization’s activities across the region, engaging with coalitions and members in Iraq, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, Kuwait, Morocco, Libya, Egypt, and beyond. Pierre works to advance the network’s goal of building thriving societies through an inclusive energy transition. 

Before joining Publish What You Pay, Pierre was Program Manager at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Beirut, managing 6 programs and 15+ civil society partners on issues like youth participation, sustainable development, electoral reform, environmental governance, and oil and gas. He also served as a field officer for the International Committee of the Red Cross. 

Pierre taught part-time at Notre Dame University’s Faculty of Law and Political Science. He holds a BA and MA in International Relations and Diplomacy from Notre Dame, and a PhD from Lebanese University, where he focused on Lebanon’s oil and gas sector and its political-administrative systems. He speaks English, Arabic, and some French.
