Kheder Zakaria is a President of the Syrian Association for Social Sciences and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Harmoon Center for Contemporary Studies in Doha.

He works as an expert in the Ministry of Development, Planning and Statistics in Qatar and has contributed to the formulation of the first Human Development Report of Qatar, and the design of population policy, strategies on family, the elderly, the youth, among other.

He holds a PhD (1971) in sociology from the Moscow State University (Lomonosov). He was professor and head of sociology department at the universities of Damascus, Oran, Aden and Qatar.
