Rebuilding Water Justice in Lebanon: Governance, Accountability, and the Future of Water

On 22 July 2026, the Arab Reform Initiative, the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at AUB, the Arab NGO Network for Development, the AUB Nature Conservation Center, and the Lebanese Water Actors Platform, convened a full-day conference in Beirut titled "Rebuilding Water Justice in Lebanon: Governance, Accountability, and the Future of Water." Across three sessions, researchers, practitioners, and civil society actors examined Lebanon's water crisis as a question of governance rather than scarcity alone, addressing institutional failure, the weaponization of water during the Israeli aggression, and pathways toward a fairer, more accountable water future.
