The Arab Reform Initiative (ARI) is a policy research centre whose key mission is to articulate a homegrown agenda for democratic change in Arab countries. It operates on the principles of impartiality, social justice, gender equality, and diversity. It conducts policy analysis and research, while providing a platform for inspirational voices and empowering young scholars and socially engaged youth. ARI is a hub for a network of Arab think tanks and works in partnership with international institutions. ARI engages academic research centres, think tanks, social movements, decision-makers, media and the public on issues of democratization and political transformation. ARI combines scholarly work and advocacy and produces practical intellectual tools to influence existing political transformation. It promotes sustained exchanges and dialogues on reform across the region and with outside partners.

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Arabic and English-speaking web designer who is proficient in Figma and experienced in the design thinking process. The consultant will play a critical role in enhancing our website's interface to align with our new goals of incorporating advanced automation and ensuring that it functions as a comprehensive hub for resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with our communications team to reimagine and refurbish our current website.
  • Utilize Figma to design and iterate website layouts that enhance user experience and engagement.
  • Implement design strategies that integrate seamlessly with backend technologies to support automation and data-driven functionalities.
  • Conduct user research and feedback sessions to ensure the site meets the needs of our diverse audience.
  • Support the development of interactive and multimedia content to make complex information accessible and engaging.

Requirements:

  • Based in the MENA region and fluent in both Arabic and English.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in web design for NGOs or think tanks.
  • Proficient in Figma and other web design tools.
  • Familiarity with the latest web technologies and a strong understanding of responsive design.
  • Experience in user interface design, preferably with websites that handle extensive data and automation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated the ability to manage time and priorities within a 4-month project timeline.
