As scholars or knowledge producers focusing on diverse social issues in the Arab world, we have long been interested in how power and hierarchy in knowledge production serve, or not, to marginalize ‘activist researchers’.

Often, the reality of research production in the Arab world is challenged by the lack of alternative interpretations and structures that aim to produce knowledge liberated from the grip of such hierarchies.

In this webinar, we draw on our personal and collective experiences to reflect on what is at stake in attempting to democratize knowledge production and research quests by shedding light on different initiatives, which are attempting to produce knowledge that is inclusive and efficient in responding and dealing with immediate challenges facing our societies.
