Rowaida Kanaan

Researcher, journalist, and data analyst

Rowaida Kanaan is a researcher, journalist, and data analyst, holding a master’s degree in Digital Humanities from Paris 8 University. She is a political and feminist activist and a member of the General Secretariat of the Syrian Feminist Political Movement.

 

As a researcher and member of the advisory team for the Syrian Feminist Political Movement, Rowaida has contributed to the preparation of policy papers on various topics such as elections, secularism, transitional governance, and the constitution, all from a women’s perspective. She has also worked on preparing position papers on political issues from a feminist standpoint.

 

In the field of radio journalism, Rowaida has worked as a journalist, producer, and radio presenter, specifically addressing women’s rights, detainees, and children’s issues. Additionally, she is a writer, contributing articles on various subjects.

 

Rawida’s activism has not been without personal sacrifices, as she has been previously detained by the Syrian regime due to her beliefs and political opinions. Despite these challenges, she remains steadfast in her commitment to advocating for justice, equality, and human rights in Syria and beyond.
