Melissa Pawson is a freelance journalist from the UK, based in Jordan. She reports on climate, migration and human rights across Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Turkey and Greece. Her writing and photography has appeared in Al Jazeera, The New Humanitarian, Middle East Eye and openDemocracy, among other publications. She holds an MA in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from Utrecht University, and currently works part time as the engagement editor for Beyond Trafficking and Slavery, part of openDemocracy.
