Independent Forensic Consultant

Luis Fondebrider has worked as a forensic anthropologist for 40 years in 61 countries, including 37 years as a member and director of the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF) and 18 months as Director of the ICRC Forensic Unit. Throughout these years, Luis served as a consultant for various international bodies, including the ICTY, ICC, CIDH, ICRC, United Nations Commissions of Inquiry, UNITAD in Iraq, and seven Truth Commissions (Argentina, El Salvador, Haiti, South Africa, Peru, Solomon Islands, Brazil). Luis has worked on high-profile cases such as Che Guevara, Salvador Allende, and HPP 1 and 2 (Identification of Argentine soldiers in the Malvinas Islands). He was also part of the forensic team that updated the Minnesota Protocol. Between 2018 and 2021, Luis served as President of the Latin American Association of Forensic Anthropology and as a member of the Certification Committee. Luis was a forensic adviser to the Ministry of Security of Argentina. In 2020, the EAAF was a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.
