Ghina R. Mumtaz

Assistant Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, American University of Beirut

Ghina Mumtaz is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health at the American University of Beirut (AUB). She earned her PhD in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The primary focus of Mumtaz’s research is on characterizing the epidemiology of HIV, other sexually transmitted infections, and hepatitis C virus in the Middle East and North Africa, where her research work has informed policy and programming decisions at key international organizations. She is currently involved in several research projects on covid-19 in the region and globally, using mainly mathematical modeling.
