This session is part of our ongoing series on Politics of Transition: Syria in Comparative Perspectives (you can view the first webinar in our series here), which brings together Syrian and international scholars to examine the key political, social, and institutional challenges shaping Syria’s post-conflict trajectory. The series is a collaboration between APSN and ARI and centers comparative insights and grounded perspectives on transitional governance.
The June 19 session will explore how political institutions—such as electoral systems, power-sharing arrangements, and decentralization—intersect with questions of sectarianism, inclusion, and representation in Syria’s transition. We aim to consider how institutional design can either reinforce or mitigate divisions, and what lessons might be drawn from other so-called "deeply divided societies."
