Patrick Costello served as an EU official for 27 years, including in several Cabinets (Chris Patten, Josep Borrell, Margot Wallstrom, Karmenu Vella). Other EU roles included head of the PSC team (2011-2014), Head of the EEAS Mashreq division (2015-2017) and Head of the EEAS Democracy and Electoral Observation division (2018-2022). He is currently senior adviser to the Kofi Annan Foundation, on the advisory board of the European Partnership for Democracy, and a Trustee of Mines Advisory Group International.
