Call for Proposals - Website Development

Project Overview

  • We have completed a full redesign of our website using Figma and finalized the content/copy for all pages. We are now looking for an experienced WordPress developer or agency to:
  • Build and integrate the new design into our existing WordPress CMS
  • Ensure a smooth transition without disrupting our live website
  • Implement advanced content filtering and searchable directories
  • Deliver a responsive, accessible, and SEO-optimized experience

Objectives

  • Migrate our approved Figma design to WordPress
  • Preserve site uptime during development (work on a staging environment)
  • Ensure performance and accessibility across devices
  • Create dynamic content structures for publications, programs, podcasts, events, and more
  • Enable search and filtering by type, region, author, and topic
  • Train our team for future content management and updates

Scope of Work

Development Environment

  • Set up a staging site for development and testing
  • Ensure smooth deployment with no downtime

Design Implementation

  • Convert Figma designs into responsive WordPress templates
  • Pixel-perfect implementation of visual components
  • Support both English and Arabic content

Content Types to Be Developed

  • Homepage (dynamic content blocks)
  • Publications (multiple types, linked to projects/programs/experts)
  • Dossiers (curated thematic hubs)
  • Programs & Projects (including metadata, experts, partners, outputs)
  • Events & Webinars (with custom layout, downloadable materials)
  • Podcasts (Series & Episodes structure)
  • Multimedia (videos, image galleries)
  • Experts Directory (searchable and filterable)
  • Partners, Jobs, and Fellowship pages
  • Newsletters archive (PDF or external link)
  • Static pages: About Us, Get Involved, Contact, Press Room
  • Interactive country map linking to related content
  • Mega menu with featured items
  • Book-a-consultation (form or external redirect)

Functionality Requirements

  • Full filtering and search system: by topic, region, program, author, type, etc.
  • Newsletter signup (integrated with Mailchimp or Klaviyo + GDPR)
  • SEO meta-structure and optimization
  • Page speed optimization
  • Accessibility (WCAG compliance where possible)

Technical Integration

  • Use of reliable, scalable, and well-maintained WordPress plugins
  • Custom post types and taxonomies as needed
  • Compatibility with existing backend
  • Minimal reliance on third-party themes; prefer modular/block-based development

QA, Handover, and Maintenance

  • Cross-browser and device testing
  • Basic training session or handover manual
  • Optional post-launch bug fixing and support (quote as an add-on)

Deliverables

  • Staging environment + final live deployment
  • Fully developed and tested WordPress site using new Figma design
  • Searchable directories and custom content types
  • Newsletter integration and contact forms
  • SEO and analytics setup
  • Basic training/handover documentation

Timeline

We aim to complete the project within 10–15 weeks of contract signing. Please include your estimated timeline with milestones (e.g., design integration, content structuring, staging review, deployment).

Budget

Please provide:

  • A detailed cost breakdown by components (development, integration, QA, deployment, support)
  • Indicate any optional/additional services (e.g., maintenance, SEO audit, analytics, etc.)
  • Payment terms and invoicing schedule

Evaluation Criteria

  • We will evaluate submissions based on:
  • Relevant experience with complex WordPress builds
  • Technical proposal and understanding of the brief
  • Portfolio of similar work (especially think tanks, NGOs, or content-heavy websites)
  • Value for money
  • Proposed timeline and responsiveness
