Political Economy

Since the transformative events of 2011, the Arab Reform Initiative has been acutely aware of the pressing demands for social justice that have remained unmet, while the economies of the region continue to face significant challenges. Our focus on political economy delves into the complex interplay between macroeconomic trends, dynamic social forces, market dynamics, and power structures. Our aim is to understand and identify the drivers that could pave the way for progress in various domains, including economics, civil society, private sector initiatives, external relations, and domestic politics. At the Arab Reform Initiative, we believe in the power of knowledge to influence policymaking in the region. Our research and analysis strive to generate insights that can inform policymakers and stakeholders in their decision-making processes. By examining the intricate connections between economic policies, societal dynamics, and power structures, we aim to provide nuanced perspectives and evidence-based recommendations. Through our rigorous investigations, we explore the opportunities and challenges within the political economy landscape. We scrutinize the policies and practices that shape economic growth, income distribution, employment prospects, and the overall well-being of individuals and communities. Additionally, we examine the role of civil society organizations, private sector initiatives, and external relations in shaping economic outcomes and advancing social justice. By shedding light on the drivers of progress and identifying potential pathways for change, we aim to contribute to informed debates and catalyse policy reforms. Our goal is to create an environment that promotes inclusive and sustainable economic development, underpinned by social justice and accountable governance.
