Heba*, 17, from oPt was arrested at a checkpoint when she was only 14. She was detained for eight months. <\/p>\n

Three years later, she is now preparing for her school exams but remembers vividly every detail of her time in prison. <\/p>\n

Heba* recalls that they were not provided with any sanitary products and had to buy their own. Food was almost inedible and the small cell she was sharing with four other girls had a toilet with no door and it was filthy.<\/p>\n

Heba* says that the toughest part was limited family visits. Her parents were allowed to visit her only three times during her eight months detention.<\/p>\n

‘We were five girls in one room; the eldest was 17 years old, and I was the youngest. The prison cells barely fit two people, we could not move around in them. There was a toilet with no door. Cockroaches swarmed everywhere in the summer. There was no window for ventilation, and the room was very dark.\u2019 <\/p>\n
