The United Arab Emirates adopts electronic voting
2 October 2006The Council of Ministers of the United Arab Emirates has agreed to adopt an electronic voting system in the coming parliamentary elections that are to take place in the middle of December this year. The Council believes that this system will help strengthen the culture of political participation and democracy in the country.

The Arab Reform Initiative is a consortium of fifteen key policy research centers from the Arab world with partners from Europe and the United States, working to mobilize the Arab research capacity to advance knowledge and promote a home grown program for democratic reform.
