Webinar Palestine Insight:  Palestine in the Political Imaginary - Perspectives from the Global South

The discussion will be held in both Arabic and English, with interpretation available on Zoom only.

You can register to attend by following this link. You will receive a Zoom confirmation email should your registration be successful. Alternatively, you can watch the event live here on our Facebook page.

This webinar will focus on the role of Palestine in politics, the popular imagination, and foreign policy orientations in the Global South. With specific emphasis on the cases of Mexico/Latin America, South Africa, and Indonesia, this webinar will explore the dominant narratives in the local/national media on the current conflict, the place of Palestine in the political imaginary and the resonance of the Palestinian cause. What role does Palestine play in national politics? And to what extent is the current conflict leading to geopolitical realignments at the national level and in the Global South more broadly?

This second webinar in the ‘Palestine Insight’ series will take stock of what the current war means in terms of global politics and the international order by presenting the perspectives of countries historically excluded from shaping that order. To what extent does the conflict create possibilities for countries across the Global South to create a new pole united around shared priorities such as sovereignty, decolonization, human security, peace, and non-alignment? And what are the possibilities for countries of the Global South to play a larger role in pushing for a resolution to the conflict that places centrally peace, security, and justice for the Palestinian people?
