Tribal Matters- are Syria’s Tribes being radicalised?

Abdulnasser Al-Ayed examines the role of the regional tribes who make up thirty per cent of Syria’s population in his paper "Jihadists and the Syrian Tribes: Transient Hegemony and Chronic Dilemmas". He believes that any plans for a new Syria need to embrace these groups, ending their marginalisation and also their radicalisation by extremists.
